Viral Padiya is an international award-winning a fine-art artist, landscape photographer, and Architect from India.
He is recognized internationally, winning many accolades and awards all over the world in digital art painting and fine-art photography. His work showcased and featured in numerous private art collections and magazines across the globe, with an eye for composition, which sees him often concentrating on minor details of the art.
His new body of artwork, “The fractal art,” expands on his abstract visuals to the next level evolving technology using Fractal Flames and Photoshop to generate forms to produce multiple variations and make each digital artwork a one of a kind.
What was your route to becoming an artist?
Viral Padiya: I grew up in India and lived in the US for quite a few years of my life. I have always admired Indian art since my childhood and wanted to become an artist or photographer. I, however, chose the field of Architecture to satiate the proximity with art. Architecture helped me understand the aesthetics of art in-depth and majorly contributed to developing my initial thoughts on using newer techniques. The field also allowed me to travel to many cities, which further created a positive impact on my creative perspective. I have been intrigued by the landscape and art culture that I have witnessed during my travels, and each experience has helped me better my skills in photography, art, and architecture.
What is your chosen medium, and what are your techniques?
Viral Padiya: I use the digital platform utilizing the abstractions of art in the form of algorithms created by calculating fractal objects, using the mixture of Fractal Flames and Photoshop. Since I paint digitally, computers, cameras, Fractal programs, and Photoshop are my main tools and techniques.
What themes would you say your work deals with?
Viral Padiya: I love abstract art because it entails many cultures, and with abstract art, you can create numerous forms using Photoshop and a mathematical Fractal program. Colors and shapes play a crucial role, and the light effects on art can produce various uniqueness that I enjoy working with.
What is most challenging about photography for you?
Viral Padiya: Most of the time, I wait patiently for the perfect moment, sometimes hours to capture that beautiful scene. Though I would say, it is very challenging when light is continuously changing. Capturing the storm through the lens can be quite exciting. The sky can create a stunning cloud pattern along with perfect lighting conditions. Rainbows and sunsets that follow rain are quite photogenic as well. When it takes to get the best shot in a photograph, the ambient light can dim or change colors quickly. Your final picture can be mysteriously darker or brighter than the original setting you intended to achieve. It all thereby depends on the right techniques.
Can you tell us a bit more about your project, “The Fractal Art”?
Viral Padiya: It has been quite a transformation. Art, to me, always felt old fashioned. I, therefore, thought of exploring digital art using different techniques. One day, I started playing with the free fractal flames program, and believe me, it was not easy to understand the application the first time. After many trials and errors, I started following a little bit of the mathematical part of the fractal flames and have to say I am still learning. After generating the flame, I brought the images to Photoshop to add more drama and induce variations. With the two, you can bring an absolute uniqueness to the art, and the final piece is a lot sharper and detailed.
How has your work developed since you began, and how do you see it evolving in the future?
Viral Padiya: Back then, I would paint and draw on a piece of paper or canvas. But after traveling around the world, especially in the US, I got to see amazing and breathtaking landscapes such as mountains, the Rift valley, crater lakes, etc. This exposure has expanded my imagination and creativity. I see a future of unlimited possibilities with my photography. As well as with this new dimension in Fractal Art, I plan to create some good unique visuals with added features that can be seen by many art followers as an inspiration.
What currently inspires you and which other artists do you admire and why?
Viral Padiya: The world, in its entirety, is fascinating. Whenever I travel and see the countryside, I feel inspired to capture the beauty I witness, the color of the sky in a sunset, the clouds after a storm, or a waterfall in the tropical forest. I draw inspiration from the natural beauty of our landscape that we mostly take for granted. I am concerned about the environmental degradation perpetuated by infrastructure developments being carried out all over the world. As soon as we know, nature will disappear forever if we do not do something to protect the natural and indigenous resources.
I have visited many art museums and art galleries, especially in the US. However, one of the most inspirational places I have visited to-date is the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas. I was fascinated by architecture, art, and exhibitions at the museum.
I admire Pablo Picasso. I think he came through a difficult period in geopolitics. He was able to translate the world wars at the time to paintings that carried a heavy message. He also expanded the Art scene by inventing and co-founding a wide variety of styles, such as constructed sculpture and collage.
What do you find to be the most challenging part of the work you do right now?
Viral Padiya: It is always challenging to know when your artwork on fractal flames or digital painting is quite complete – you ever feel that there are still missing parts that can add more finesse to work.
Why do you do what you do? What do you love most about it and find so meaningful About the work?
Viral Padiya: Art is the universal language and helps everyone’s imagination to make them more observant, boosts everyone’s self-esteem, enhances problem-solving skills, and provides a sense of accomplishment. So, it is always good to spend your valuable time on creativity.
It has been part of me from an early age. I feel as if I am documenting history for generations to come. Therefore, I love documenting aspects and hope that the future generation will compare my work to what the artwork will look like in the future. Knowing that my work will inform and help future generations reconstruct lifestyles and cultures of the past gives me so much satisfaction that I don’t see myself retiring soon.
